I'm having issues when trying to play Jellytelly videos on my browser. What should I do?

If you’re experiencing buffering or other playback issues while watching Jellytelly, here are a few tips that can help improve your viewing experience:

 

Make sure you are using a compatible browser

You can see a complete list of supported browsers here.

 

Reboot your computer

 

Power down and restart your modem/router

 

Update your software

  1. Check to see that your computer is running the latest software: Check for updates on your mac / Check for updates on your PC
  2. Make sure your browser is up to date: Google Chrome / FireFox / Safari / Edge

For the most consistent experience, we recommend using Google Chrome. You can download it here.

If your software needed updated, test playing Jellytelly to see if the issue was caused by a compatibility issue. If your software is up-to-date and you continue experiencing problems, continue with the next phase of troubleshooting.

 

Clear your browser's cache

Our website stores a lot of data in the browser that helps us manage everything. Sometimes this can get out of sync and causes issues you may be experiencing. The easiest solution is to clear your browser's cache. You can do that by following these instructions: Clear cache on Google Chrome / Clear cache on FireFox / Clear cache on Safari / Clear cache on Edge

 

Check your internet speed and proximity to the router

Go to https://fast.com/ and run a speed test. We recommend internet speeds of at least 5 Mbps for streaming videos on Jellytelly. A minimum of 10 Mbps will be best for playing HD videos. 

If your internet speed is around 10Mbps or below, make sure you’re not streaming on multiple devices.

To improve streaming quality, try moving closer to your router.

 

Test turning off any filters/ad blockers you have running

If you have any security filters on your home network (e.g. Circle, NetNanny, Covenant Eyes) or ad blockers enabled on your browser, try disabling them and see if you can play videos on Jellytelly. If you are able to play videos after turning the filters/ad blockers off, add jellytelly.com/  and vimeo.com/  as an allowed website. 

 

Make sure your browser has JavaScript enabled.

You can enable JavaScript on your browser by following these instructions: Enable JS on Google Chrome / Enable JS on Firefox / Enable JS on Safari / Enable JS on Internet Explorer 11 

 

Adjust the video quality

To improve buffering and playback issues, you can change videos to a lower quality. Click the gear icon on the video you’re playing and select a lower quality to see if this helps improve your streaming.

 

Close out of other tabs and programs 

Try quitting other applications, programs, or other browser windows/tabs you’re using to see if this helps improve your video streaming. This will free up your computer’s memory and may help if you’re experiencing buffering or loading issues.
